Title IX is Always a Factor

As Eric McErlain points out over at Saving Sports, Title IX is always an factor in athletic cuts -- even when cuts happen for budgetary reasons.  Schools can't afford to cut women's teams, because that would throw them out of Title IX compliance, so they end up having to cut men's teams.  So Title IX, in effect, guides the cuts.  Eric has a good example of that dynamic in action.  Check it out.
