Obama Cares...So Much that He Has Medical Tests that Will Be Denied to the Rest of Us
The DNC’s just noted war on women is only today’s first Hypocrisy Alert: now comes an intriguing article from the American Spectator on what President Obama means by “fairness” with regard to medical treatment for you and me.
President Obama has recently embraced the moniker Obamacare for his massive takeover of the medical system. Mr. Likeability said this of those who employ the once-dreaded term: "You know what, they're right, I do care. I care about folks who get sick …"
According to the Spectator’s David Catron, the president definitely cares about his own health--to the extent that he avails himself of services and procedures that will not be permitted for the rest of us under Obamacare.
For example, the president has taken advantage of a state-of-the-art test for detecting colon cancer that doesn’t expose the patient to radiation. But you, Dear Reader, will not be having that test. Government health care bureaucrats have decided that there isn’t sufficient evidence of the test's effectiveness to waste it on us.
[I]f it's good enough for the leader of the free world, why isn't it good enough for Medicare patients? Well, one reason involved a concern "that costs would increase…"
Take a moment to consider that. The President of the United States, a public servant paid by the taxpayers, followed the advice of his taxpayer-paid doctors that he should have a taxpayer-paid CTC. Yet his health care commissars, also paid by taxpayers, have decreed that that it is too expensive to provide this very test to actual taxpayers when they retire and sign up for the Medicare program for which they have been paying all their working lives.
This perverse system, it should be remembered, is not merely presided over but taken advantage of by a man who incessantly lectures these very taxpayers about "fairness."
The article details several medical services the president has access to that will be denied to the rest of us. This is par for the course for Democrats, who want to inflict on us things they would not suffer. The DNC can rail about the alleged wage gap all it wants, for example, but it still pays women 15 percent less than it pays male employees. Equal pay is for Republicans, not Democrats, see?
Glenn Reynolds had a recent column that is germane to this point: Reynolds observed that several Democratic constituencies are immune to the pain and suffering of tax hikes. People whose income is derived from the government or Hollywood, where creative accounting has ever been the norm, are not as affected by higher taxes as other groups. Reynolds suggests that Republicans should offer up tax proposals that squeeze these constituencies but will be attractive to the public.
Here is how his column begins:
There's an old joke about a boy who complains to his mother that his little sister keeps pulling his hair.
"Oh," responds the mother, "she doesn't know that it hurts."
A few minutes later, the mother hears the girl scream and runs into the other room. "She knows now," the boy explains.
There's a lesson for Republicans in that old joke, if they're smart enough to absorb it.
Wonder how fair President Obama would have thought it if his doctors had denied him services he will deny us?
Oh, and Mr. Clooney...
