President Obama is going to meet some truly exotic people today—middle class people.

He talks about them all the time, but today he is bearding the strange beast in its lair:

President Obama is meeting with a middle-class family in Northern Virginia on Thursday as part of his public pitch to extend the Bush-era tax rates for all but the highest income earners.

But this isn’t just any middle class family:

A member of the family participated in the White House's #My2k Twitter campaign supporting an extension of the Bush-era rates for all but the top 2 percent of income owners, according to CNN

The Falls Church News-Press reports:

Obama sat around a kitchen table with Richard and Tiffany Santana and Velma and Jimmie Massenburg. The president, according to a Denver Post reporter who was part of a small pool of reporters who accompanied the president from the White House, said of his guests, “They have dreams and ambitions, they have a beautiful six year old son Noah. They’re keeping it together, they’re working hard, they’re meeting their responsibilities. For them to be burdened unnecessarily because Democrats and Republicans aren’t coming together to solve those problems gives you a sense of the costs on personal terms.”

I couldn’t agree more. The Santanas and Massenburgs have dreams and ambitions and deserve a government that doesn't stand in the way of these dreams and ambitions.

But let’s face it—the president is trying to hide behind families such as these. President Obama could agree to hold their taxes at the current level in a split second. He could also do this and still get additional “revenue.” But he insists that it is essential to raise taxes on the top 2 percent, even though this would bring in an insignificant amount of money and harm job creation. But that is probably not how he presented it to the Santanas and Massenburgs.

The visit lasted a half hour and then the president headed back to the house of the 52 Christmas trees.
