Pro-Obama Union: We've Decided We Want Repeal After All
More evidence that we should have found out what is in ObamaCare before it passed: The strongly pro-Obama Roofers Union is calling for its repeal.
Despite the union’s support of the president, officials now say they can’t afford ObamaCare.
It is impossible to underestimate what this means.
Here is part of the statement from United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers International President Kinsey M. Robinson:
"Our Union and its members have supported President Obama and his Administration for both of his terms in office.
But regrettably, our concerns over certain provisions in the ACA have not been addressed, or in some instances, totally ignored. In the rush to achieve its passage, many of the Act's provisions were not fully conceived, resulting in unintended consequences that are inconsistent with the promise that those who were satisfied with their employer sponsored coverage could keep it.
These provisions jeopardize our multi-employer health plans, have the potential to cause a loss of work for our members, create an unfair bidding advantage for those contractors who do not provide health coverage to their workers, and in the worst case, may cause our members and their families to lose the benefits they currently enjoy as participants in multi-employer health plans.
The statement ends with Robinson's call for the repeal of ObamaCare to protect both employers and employees.
As far as I can tell this story is getting no attention in the mainstream media. Let me know if you can find it in the Washington Post. Maybe I am not using the search engine correctly?
This report comes from the Examiner.
Mark Hemingway had a good piece in the Weekly Standard in March on some of the discontent in unions with regard to ObamaCare.
But this is the first call for outright repeal.
Many unions got waivers on implementation of ObamaCare. It will be very interesting to see what happens when the waivers expire.
ObamaCare is in dire trouble, but President Obama and the Democrats are not likely to admit this. We’re in for a lot of pain and suffering over this monstrosity.
Thanks to the Weekly Standard for highlighting the Roofers story.
