Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has proposed an increase on cigarette taxes and now, an additional new tax on nicotine used in vaping devices. He says the revenue raised by these new taxes (he estimates around $300 million annually) will be split 50-50, with half being dedicated for education programs and the other half being allocated for health-related issues. That’s rich. By taxing vaping products, the Governor is only going to make it harder for individuals to switch from traditional, combustible cigarettes (ya know, the thing that cause cancer) to e-cigarettes (ya know, the thing that doesn’t cause cancer).

In other words, this tax on vaping products could actually increase Colorado’s health care expenses and result in higher cancer rates and more smokers.

Well done, Guv.
