Allison began her political career at Bucknell University as a founding member of the Bucknell University Conservatives Club, Bucknell Rifle Association, and The Counterweight , Bucknell's conservative publication. Allison was an integral part of these conservative clubs from the very beginning, serving as a student leader and writer. Allison wrote the "AK's Rapid Fire" column in The Counterweight, covering subjects from radical feminism to free speech on campus. Allison went on to become editor-in-chief of The Counterweight, Executive Director of the BUCC, and the campus's most outspoken proponent of equity feminism.

Allison was featured on the cover of the New York Times Magazine in May 2003 as one of the top student activists in the country and has done countless media appearances. She is also a published author with articles in outlets such as The Weekly Standard, National Review Online, and Human Events Online . She is also a contributor to NRO's higher education blog, Phi Beta Cons.
