Houston, we have a problem

I know it's not nice to do so, but I am savoring U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak's ill-starred love for fellow space traveler Bill Oefelein. The astro-love appears to have careened off course when Lisa realized that U.S. Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman was a rival for Bill's affections:

"Nowak, a 43-year-old flight engineer who made her first space-shuttle flight in July, is accused of attempted murder and other charges after she sprayed Shipman with pepper spray because she viewed her as a rival for the affections of astronaut Bill Oefelein.

"Nowak told police she did not intend to harm Shipman, but police said she wore a disguise during the assault and was carrying a knife, steel mallet and BB gun when captured."

If this happened at NASA, think of the romantic opportunities on a submarine.

This Just In: Charlotte Allen and husband Donald are also savoring the female astronaut love triangle. Writes Charlotte: "Don and I have already blocked out the Saturday Night Live sketch: They're on the moon, and one of them tries to pull off the other one's space helmet.  Houston, we've got a problem."
