Women in STEM positions is becoming less of a problem than women running for Vice President. I am an Engineering Professor, as are one of my three brothers and my father (1st generation college grad). Our wives (2) are Computer Scientists. My 2 daughters are STEM students; One a graduate Chemistry student (cum Laude), the other a senior in Engineering. We have 12 STEM degrees in our immediate family, soon to be 14. The Senior Engineering major is of interest; she is a 4 year, year round athlete, running Division I varsity Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. Oh, and she was selected to the University Legion of Excellence for her athleticism and team high GPA (3.97 in Engineering!). Lots of Math and Science talent in this family. She plans to get her M.S. and PHD in Engineering, and become a Professor like her Dad, Uncle, and Grandfather. Not to mention training for the Olympic Marathon.
