Fox is at its best when it provides a platform for insightful, rational conversation like Special Report with Bret Baier, or even the more casual Fox and Friends. There are plenty of intellectually adept conservatives who can lend thoughtful analysis and a personality to the cable network. Figures like Beck and Palin, even Huckabee, serve an entertainment purpose – and at times their inflammatory rhetoric (e.g. “death panels”) may even help bring attention to critical policy issues.

But if Fox is interested in elevating the conversation – and sharpening the conservative brand – they might consider some new talent.
