Vision, Policy, and Politics: A Preview of the 2014 Debate

Thursday, February 27, 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM ET National Press Club Ballroom, Washington, DC

The stage is being set right now for a pivotal debate over ObamaCare in the 2014 elections.  Join us on Thursday (Feb. 27) as top political and policy leaders discuss the vision, policy, and politics of health reform at our conference on “Fresh ideas and a new vision for health reform.”

Vision: Panel I will feature a discussion, moderated by former CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, talking with leading members of Congress who have introduced major health reform legislation.  These conservative political leaders will paint a picture of what true market-based health reform would look like if consumers had more control over choices in a truly competitive market.

Sen. Richard Burr, NC
Rep. Diane Black, TN
Rep. Michael Burgess, TX
Rep. Tom Price, GA
Rep. Phil Roe, TN
Rep. Steve Scalise, LA

Policy:  On Panel II, 10 policy experts from the major market-oriented think tanks will translate the vision into policy solutions for real insurance with real examples of portability and tax fairness, protections for those with pre-existing conditions, and a strong safety net.
