This just in: Ms. magazine has its panties in a bunch. Yes, again.
Despite some feminists best attempts to create a controversy over Augusta Golf Club’s no-women policy, Ms. can’t seem to fathom that many professional women golfers don’t have a problem with Augusta’s policy. Ever-eloquent, Miranda Van Gelder asks “Why is the pro women’s attitude towards Augusta National’s no-women stance “pretty please” and not “puh-leeze? Whatever.”
Some lady-golfers have more grown-up opinions on the subject. Professional putter Nancy Lopez stated that “men built that club. To tell them they have to have a woman member is like telling them they have to change the color of the paint on their house.” Sports writer Sally Jenkins also recognizes that it’s entirely possible to support equal rights while also supporting Augusta.
