This week obviously belonged to Howard Dean. Those of us who’ve been cheering him on from the sidelines with visions of 1972 dancing in our noggins are suddenly sober. Did we underestimate the doc’s ability to go centrist? Bill Kristol warns the Bushies against overconfidence.

Two angry men: Charles Krauthammer explains why Al Gore, last seen in a hot tub on Saturday Night Live, endorsed Dean. NB: Dean introduced Gore at the Harlem gathering as the ‘elected president of the United States.’ That’s a signal of what kind of campaign it’s going to be if Dean does, in fact, get the Democratic nomination.

Mean for Dean: Gore wasn’t the only Washington critter who hopped aboard the Dean bandwagon this week. Hillary pal Sidney Blumenthal has also come out for Dean. Don’t miss Andrew on Sidney.
