New York Times columnist Tom Friedman has been in India only a few days, but he confesses, “[A]lready I am thinking about reincarnation.”
“In my next life I want to be a demagogue.”
“Yes, I want to be able to huff and puff about complex issues–like outsourcing of jobs to India–without any reference to reality.”
Friedman shows why both the U.S. and India benefit from the outsourcing that has become so notorious since a slip of the tongue by a Bush administration official (he told the truth–outsourcing doesn’t hurt us).
One of the reasons outsourcing helps the U.S. economy is that Indian workers dealing with U.S. customers by telephone use American computers.
Friedman doesn’t say it, but I will: The Democrats are demagogues on this issue of outsourcing.
