An article in a Florida paper (and posted on Lucianne.com) tells us something we already sensed about John Kerry: He’s different when nobody’s looking.

The report-in-question–headlined “John Frugal Kerry”–dealt with Mr. Kerry’s charitable giving:

‘During the early 1990s, with no apparent presidential aspirations, Kerry contributed the following amounts: $0 in 1991; $820, 1992; $175, 1993; $2,039, 1994; and $0, 1995. Last year, however, after media attention, he gave $43,735.’

The newspaper reports that this giving was fairly painless’no, he didn’t get it out of The-Ray-sa’s piggybank.

The money came from proceeds from Kerry’s book, now in remaindered bins all over the nation, which he used to pay taxes and to feed the hungry.
