WASHINGTON, DC — The Independent Women’s Forum today says the policies of the John Kerry/John Edwards presidential ticket spells trouble for American women: bigger government, more burdensome regulations, higher taxes and less individual freedom.
“Leave it to John Kerry, the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate, to “balance” the ticket by adding the fourth most liberal member, Senator John Edwards,” said Rieva Holycross, senior vice president of the Independent Women’s Forum. “Together they make the most liberal presidential ticket in history. This John-John duo thinks the government knows best how to spend your hard-earned money and where to send your child to school.”
“What is best for women and for all Americans,” Holycross added, “is having more control of their lives, not less.”
Senators Kerry and Edwards voted against President Bush’s tax cuts which benefited over 43 million families with children. Both voted against marriage penalty relief and child tax credits. Both are against school vouchers which could rescue millions of children from failing public schools.
“If that’s not anti-women, anti-family, I don’t know what is,” Holycross quipped.
