A funny thing happened to the sex gap on the way to the election–or rather several funny things. It practically vanished, then began creeping back.

“What’s unmistakable, though, is that this gap — which led more women than men to favor Al Gore in 2000 and Bill Clinton in 1996 — doesn’t seem to be promising to blow as wide for Democrats in this election,” according to a must read piece in USA TODAY.
