It must be awful to lose a presidential election, but John Kerry is doing the right thing by conceding rather than tearing the country apart.

I wish that the MSM (mainstream media) had been as stand up as Kerry. Even when the votes were counted and John Kerry had lost, the MSM continued to pretend that it was reporting a very tight race.

If you read the earlier headlines, it was clear that the MSM was either in denial or willing to help set the stage for a challenge to what was clearly a Bush victory.

Here’s how the nation’s two most powerful newspapers played the story: ‘Bush Camp Convinced of Win,’ trumpets the Washington Post, adding that final results ‘hinge’ on Ohio. ‘White House Is ‘Convinced’ of Win,’ says the New York Times. No, it’s not that the White House is “convinced” it won–the votes give them victory. The media simply refuses to acknowledge this.

One of the great things about our country is the orderly transition of power, the centrality of the election process, and the MSM was willing to undermine all that. It’s at best irresponsible, but I have a hunch it’s something worse, the MSM’s unrelenting bias.

Powerlineblog, which led the way in revealing that CBS relied on forged documents to undermine Bush, had this to say:

‘President Bush won this remarkable victory in the face of a campaign of disinformation the likes of which we have not seen since the heyday of the Big Lie, and in the face of an orgy of hatred (the phenomenon we have previously dubbed Chaitred) the likes of which we have not seen in the West since the days of the Nuremberg rallies. From Leni Riefenstahl to Michael Moore — what a falling off was there!’

(The Other Charlotte quotes the very same paragraph from Powerlineblog–an indication of how spot on, as our Brit allies might put it, the thought is. Hmmm, or is it an indication that all great minds….’)
