Washington, DC– The Independent Women’s Forum pays tribute to civil rights pioneer, Rosa Parks, who on Monday, died at the age of 92.

IWF senior vice president Michelle D. Bernard stated, “Rosa Parks truly was an independent woman. She demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice and equality not just in a simple act of defiance fifty years ago, but throughout her life.”

Bernard continued, “She leaves behind a legacy of grace and dignity that all Americans can be proud of. Our nation is a better place because of her.”

Rosa Parks, a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama, helped spark the modern day civil rights movement when she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man.
