Front page of today’s Washington Post: An angry woman wearing an Acorn T-shirt is in the forefront of a group of protesters outside the U.S. Capitol. They are people displaced by Katrina. “We want to go home. Where is the money?” they shout.
This is not to denigrate their suffering, which is enormous and written on this woman’s face, but I couldn’t help noticing that this is one more visual pointing to the creation of people totally dependent on the government. “Where is the money?” (the government money) is the cry of the heart of those rendered helpless.
