Anybody who believes that the battle against radical feminism has been won got a wake-up call today when Harvard President Larry Summers announced that he is stepping down at the end of the year.

The report in the New York Times notes a number of arcane Harvard faculty issues, but I think it’s fair to say that there was one issue alone that is the root of this resignation:

“Last March, the arts and sciences faculty approved a no-confidence measure, 218 to 185, after Dr. Summers said at an academic conference that women’s ‘intrinsic aptitude’ might contribute to their low numbers in science and engineering.”

Summers will return to Harvard as a faculty member.
