The Independent Women’s Forum recently announced the winners of our first annual campus essay contest. Over 2,000 students entered the contest, writing a 750-word essay on the following topic:


Please discuss your experience on college campus as an independent woman. “How has your college or university helped or hindered your intellectual and personal growth?” Please describe what you think it means to be an independent woman in the year 2005.


The top three essays are posted below.  Please stay tuned to the IWF website for details on our second annual campus essay contest this fall.

The Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) honored the winners of their first student essay contest last Wednesday at the U.S. Naval Observatory, the home of the Vice President and Mrs. Lynne Cheney, with the award presentation by Mrs. Cheney and IWF President Michelle Bernard.
