Mailbag: Too Much Katie Couric? How Can That Be?

OK, you’re sick of reading about Katie Couric on InkWell (here, here, here, and here!)–and so is Inky reader J.C.:

“All the puffery about Katie Couric makes no sense to me. She isn’t a pioneer even in the tiny, insular world of network news anchors. Anybody remember Connie Chung? Or, for that matter, Linda Ellerbee?”

Well I guess Katie’s going it alone–so that makes her different. But this latest word from Drudge may make you wonder whether CBS may be having second thoughts:

“FLASH: COURIC ‘CBS EVENING NEWS’ LANDS AT 7.0 RATING/14 SHARE IN SECOND AIRING [DOWN FROM 9.1/17 OPEN]… ABC ‘WORLD NEWS’ SCORES 5.3 RATING/10 SHARE; NBC ‘NIGHTLY’ 4.9/10… MORE…”

Hmmm. Maybe there is such a thing as too much Katie Couric.
