One of IWF’s fabulous fall Junior Fellows just stumbled across a new piece of propaganda, err…children’s book:  Why Mommy is a Democrat by Jeremy Zilber.

Take a look at the sample pages.  They contain the following gems:

“Democrats make sure we all share our toys, just like Mommy does.”

“Democrats make sure we are always safe, just like Mommy does.”

“Democrats make sure children can go to school, just like Mommy does.”

Isn’t that precious?  I had no idea that squirrels had party affiliations.  The pictures are also one of a kind.  My favorite is the one with a protective mother squirrel hovering over her baby squirrels to shield them from an elephant (who must have dubious intentions!) walking down the road.

If you want to inundate your child with Democratic propaganda (Republicans don’t share their toys, I’m telling!), I guess this book is for you.  But I’ll pass.  One of my major pet peeves is people who force partisan politics on their children, taking them to protests and buying books like this.  Instilling moral values in your children is one thing (and there are certainly a lot of good children’s books out there that have some sort of moral lesson), but expecting a child to have a partisan affiliation/opinion is over the top.  It’s something that both sides are guilty of and it drives me crazy.
