Wanna watch Steve Colbert bake an apple pie with Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda? Here’s the YouTube, courtesy of DotCommonweal’s Cathleen Kaveny.

Steinem and Fonda both look smashing (not at all like this), and they let Steve call them “ladies,’ which I thought was supposed to be a no-no. The pie they back doesn’t look so hot (hey, dumb feminists, you’re supposed to peel the apples before you put them into the crust!). But the purpose of the show isn’t to put Jane ‘n’ Gloria into competition with Rachael Ray. It’s so that the two can plug their new radio talk-show network.

As Jane puts it:

Existing talk shows, such as Rush Limbaugh, are too “aggressive and judgmental, so women don’t listen to them.”

So let’s put the exceedingly non-aggressive and non-judgmental Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda on the air.
