According to a June 2007 article in The Wall Street Journal:

“‘Names have become a matter of fashion and taste,’ says Harvard sociologist Stanley Lieberson.”

And as we all know there is no accounting for taste. Regardless of income, some people got it and some people don’t. And then some people have to pay a consultant to recommend a name so popular people might wonder that they couldn’t come up with it themselves. It’s a mad, mad, mad world. Frankly, being from the south I am all for a solid name on the birth certificate coupled with a great nickname.
