I wish President Bush had turned the tables yesterday in New Orleans. Instead of pretending the city has made reasonable progress, I wish the president had said: What on earth have you done with the taxpayers’ money I sent you? We’ve already sunk more money in New Orleans than the Marshall Plan cost to rebuilt Europe after World War II.

New Orleans has become the American left’s symbol of victimhood. The citizens have learned to beg for money that is then wasted. Lucianne is right when she says that New Orleans needs “something money can’t buy.” It has become the wrong symbol-a symbol of Bush administration failure, when it should be a symbol of the welfare society’s failure. Larry Kudlow also  has an excellent piece on the New Orleans money pit.
