This headline from a British paper seems to say it all: “The end of capitalism as we know it? Now U.S. may follow U.K.’s lead as it ponders ownership stakes in banks.” Hourly, I seem to run across a politician, journalist or pundit blaming our current financial crisis on the failure of the free market system. In fact, the crisis we currently face stems from artificial pressures from politicians and interest groups in the United States. It frightens me to imagine the nonsense legislation that is sure to get passed by Congress which will likely extend our current economic problems.
