Last week I posted to Inkwell about “The Gore Effect,” and how often during an event to raise awareness about climate change, Mother Nature welcomes participants with frigid temperatures. Today in England, several students, from a group called Plane Stupid, stormed the runway at Stansted Airport and chained themselves together to protest construction of a second runway, and causing a several hour disruption in service at the airport. Enjoy the irony of Lily Kember’s statement, spokesperson for the group, “It’s a bit cold but everyone is in good spirits. Being arrested is a terrifying prospect, but not nearly as terrifying as the threat of climate change.” Click here for the full story.
