Click here for an article from the Huffington Post that discusses Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s recent idea that we should begin taxing motorists by the mile to make up for declining gas tax revenues which are only expected to shrink further. Incredibly, Secretary LaHood believes we should attach a GPS system to every automobile so the government can track the mileage of each motorist. Although this idea has been panned by the White House, a special commission created by Congress is also endorsing the idea. I am sure every American would feel comfortable knowing the Federal government had the power to track their every movement each time they got behind the wheel of their car.
