Check out this article from the WSJ discussing the proposed retroactive tax proposal on the AIG bonuses. Regardless of what you think about the bonuses, allowing the government to retroactively tax salaries and bonuses they deem excessive is even more distasteful. Author Richard Epstein does a great job discussing whether a court of law would even be able (or willing) to block this oppressive move by the President and Congress.
