Now that some legislators, journalists, and constituents have finally taken the time to actually read the America Affordable Health Choices Act, we’re starting to hear about more questionable provisions tucked away in the bill’s more than 1600 pages.

For example, did you know that the bill includes a “medical home pilot program” for elderly and disabled Americans?

Experts oppose the idea because they say the homes would apply a one-size-fits-all principle in caring for residents.  But one-size-fits-all is not true for health care, especially when it comes to elderly and disabled people. 

The value of combining clinical research with a doctor’s knowledge of his patient could be undermined in government “medical homes” where there is not even a requirement that doctors be on staff.  Read more here.
