IWF would like to extend our congratulations to Ambassador Nancy Brinker for receiving a Presidential Medal of Freedom today. IWF bestowed its 2007 Woman of Valor Award to  Ambassador Brinker for her dedication to helping the women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and for her perseverance in finding a cure so that others don’t have to suffer from this disease.  Truly commendable work.

Nancy Brinker’s work was especially important to IWF’s founder, Rosalie “Ricky” Silberman, who lost her life to breast cancer in 2007.  Ricky had said during her illness that she truly believed she was only alive because of Nancy Brinker’s work in pursuing treatments for breast cancer.  On behalf of Ricky and all of those who have lost loved ones to this disease, IWF expresses our deepest gratitude to Ms. Brinker and the outstanding team behind her at the Komen Foundation for committing their lives to helping others.  We will find a cure!
