Great first line in a Christian Science Monitor story on Lubna Hussein, the Sudanese woman convicted of the crime of wearing pants (yes, that’s a crime there): “Sudan’s Islamic regime just may have picked the wrong woman to mess with.”  


Boy, did they ever!  After letting her off “easy” by deciding not to sentence her to 40 lashes, the court imposed a fine equal to $200 U.S. dollars.  But, in a display of her now famous feisty defiance, Hussein has refused to pay it saying she’s rather go to jail.
