A recently released poll on healthcare shows that women are skeptical when it comes to a government-run system.

The poll of 800 registered women voters was conducted by WomenTrend and commissioned by the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF). Nicole Kurokawa, IWF senior policy analyst, tells OneNewsNow she was surprised by the findings.

“I was surprised to see, even though it’s been lambasted over and over again, that two-thirds of women would rather have private health insurance than a government-run health insurance plan,” she says. “We have been told that a public option is the ‘be all, end all’…[and that] there will be rainbows every day and we will all get unicorns — but people just don’t trust that.”

She says at the end of the day, no matter what Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and others call the public option, people will cut through the rhetoric and know that it is a government-run program.
