Reason.tv has a great new video out that illustrates (literally… Nick Gillespie has a magic marker in his hand) what happens when the government wields its power.

Check it out:

Unfortunately, too many companies seem to be tempted by this business model recently: why bother trying to compete, when the government can just kneecap your opponent for you? The more power the government has, the more enemies they can smite!

But just remember: “enemy” is in the eye of the beholder. To borrow Heidi Klum’s Project Runway catch phrase, “one day you’re in… the next you’re out.” The government that’s oh-so helpful today just might come back to kneecap you in the future. As former president Gerald Ford warned in a 1974 address to Congress, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.”

And that’s your daily reminder of why big government is bad, and shouldn’t be allowed to expand its influence in the first place. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
