It had all the markings of an Obama speech–filled with those annoying “I’s” and “me’s” and incredibly self regarding.


But what I found most annoying was the constant drumbeat of “I do not make this decision lightly.”  It’s obvious with those seven words, Obama spoke directly to his critics–the Kucinich/MoveOn crowd.  He was trying to remind them of his great mind, his deliberative skills, his brilliance and hoping they forgive him for this necessary misstep.


His sullen face and defensive tone only added to the overall sense of gloominess transmitted by the speech.  The message was clear…”I don’t want to do this.”


Don’t worry, Mr. President, our military will take care of it for you.
