CNN is reporting that 33 members of a women’s group called Mourning Mothers were arrested in Tehran on Saturday afternoon. The group is made up of women whose children have been killed in the recent anti-government protests.

The group’s members include the mother of 26-year-old Neda Agha-Soltan, who was murdered by a member of the government’s Basij militia during the protests after the disputed presidential elections in June of last year.

Yesterday, families and other group members gathered outside the detention center holding the women.  It soon turned into a protest with those gathering shouting “free the mothers!”.
