I understand that this summit was called by the White House but it is a bit grating to watch the President moderate the panel. While the Democrats drone on with endless personal stories and tragic anecdotes, the Republicans have largely stuck to the legislation in question and the difficult and complicated policy issues.
When Rep. Dave Camp got down to business going through specific provisions in the bill, Obama interrupted him–saying it wouldn’t be productive to just pick through the bill. Huh? What are you all supposed to be doing then?
The Republicans have a tough road ahead. A moderator sqarely with the Democrats makes a fair exchange likely impossible.
