The Wall Street Journal’s Bret Stephens wonders what will take the place of global warming as the next big “scare.”  We’ve discussed this phenomenon before, in particular writing about Christopher Booker and Richard North’s book, Scared To Death, which puts climate change in the context of the many other scares that came before it.

But is the global warming scare really over? It certainly is good news that concern about climate change is receding in much of the public’s mind, but the battle is far from over. In particular, universities and even regular K-12 schools seem bent on promoting global warming alarmism (even though kids are already plenty scared about climate change).  That’s why IWF is encouraging parents to pay attention to what schools are up to on Earth Day—you need to make sure that teachers aren’t using it as an opportunity to push extreme environmentalism.
