Over at the Corner, Andy McCarthy writes about a disturbing case in New Jersey where a judge refused to convict a man of raping his wife because, under Sharia law, a wife may not refuse her husband sex. The judge stated in his ruling:
This court does not feel that, under the circumstances, that this defendant had a criminal desire to or intent to sexually assault or to sexually contact the plaintiff when he did. The court believes that he was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited.
Mercifully, an appellate court overruled the lower judges’ bizarre ruling.
Meanwhile, over in the feminist world, crickets on this horrifying miscarriage of justice. But don’t despair, they are fully up-to-date on really important “women’s issues” like ensuring female parity over at Comedy Central and finger wagging NBC television show Law and Order for daring to question abortion rights in one of their episodes.
Good to know the “feminists” are looking out for us.
