“Who knows? With a solid leadership at the local level, this hundred mil could have produced, say, 70-80 jobs,” opines Hot Air in response to a report from the Los Angeles city controller that $111 million in federal stimulus money has created 55 jobs so far.

L. A. City Controller Wendy Greuel, whose department produced the 40-page audit, is guilty of something else-grade inflation. Said Greuel:

“I would say maybe in a grade, a B- in creating the jobs,” Greuel told Fox News. “They have started to spend those dollars but it took seven months to get some of those contracts out. We think in the city that we should move quickly and not in the same usual bureaucratic ways.”

Hey, don’t be so hard on folks!

Greuel blamed bureaucratic red tape, the awarding of projects that should have been bid upon in the private sector to city workers, inadequate tracking of stimulus money. In other words, it was your typical, ordinary government project.

You know what the worst thing is about all this wasted stimulus money?

We still gotta pay for it.
