Today, Republicans are rolling out their new “Pledge to America,” which outlines the GOPs agenda and priorities for if they take control of Congress after this election.

I want to read the whole document more closely, but it’s clear from an initial glance that it contains what you would expect: a pledge to cut government spending, repeal the health care law, lower taxes, reduce regulations, and strengthen our national defense.

I’m sure that many in the press will dismiss this document and these ideas as a rerun of what the GOP has pledged in the past, especially in the Contract with America. But we don’t need “new” ideas about limiting government–we just need Representatives who are actually committed to doing so. There’s no need to try to put a new twist on cutting government spending and waste and reducing government’s burden on the private sector. These ideas resonate and will continue to resonate as long as we have a mammoth government.
