Today, most pundits are focusing on the numbers (the GOP gain of 60 plus seats in the House being the most in more than a half century) and the outcome of high profile races, like those in Nevada and Delaware.

This is all interesting, naturally, but what I think is the most important outcome of this election isn’t that there are a lot more Members with Rs after their names. It’s that America is sending to office so many powerful champions of more limited government and free markets.

New Senators like Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, and Ron Johnson aren’t just any old Republicans. These are principled disciples of the free market. While it’s not counted as a pickup, replacing more moderate Republican Senator like Utah’s Bob Bennett with conservative Mike Lee will also increase the number of those truly committed to the limited government cause in Washington. This is great news for anyone who believes Washington has grown too big and has too much power..
