It seems wise for the opposition party to keep their remarks short and to the point when follow a SOTU.  Rep. Ryan did that, and managed to say a lot in few words.  This was my favorite image he provided:



We are at a moment, where if government’s growth is left unchecked and unchallenged, America’s best century will be considered our past century. This is a future in which we will transform our social safety net into a hammock, which lulls able-bodied people into lives of complacency and dependency.


I appreciate that he devoted all of his speech to spending, and to the central question behind the spending issue, which isn’t just how  much our government taxes and spends or even how big our debt becomes, but how much of our lives government controls.
