I’m a little obsessed with the video of President Obama toasting the Queen at last night’s state banquet at Buckingham Palace.  Oh…the awkwardness!  And, for a second (only a second) I actually felt bad for the President.  Good grief, how horrible, I thought. That poor guy.  A friend of mine groaned about the poor White House staffer who was sure to be sacked!

Yes, I felt bad….that is, until I listened to the morning press going on and on about how well he handled himself.  MSNBC’s Savannah Guthrie actually said “did the queen really have to just let him hang there like that?”  Oh, yes, Savannah, The Queen is clearly to blame for that embarrassing situation.  She really should have just chucked hundreds of years of tradition to make our President feel comfortable.

My other favorite is a report by a Boston Globe reporter who said “Obama had just toasted the Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace when the band, apparently deciding that he had finished his speech, struck up “God Save the Queen.”

Oh sure, go ahead and blame the band.

Let’s just take a moment to consider what we’d be hearing if this had been G.W. Bush.  It would be “dumb, dumb, dumb” for days.

It’s good to be The One.
