Although I have nothing very nice to say about the thugs of Occupy Wall Street, I must admit that even I am somewhat shocked and surprised by the lyrics of a new Occupy anthem (as captured by columnist Don Surber):

“Our canvas is freedom/ Your blood is our paint” and “But it will be late/ And long out of fashion/ Strung up you’ll bleed/ Like the pig you became/ A symbol of hatred/ And one with no name/ And our country will come back.”

I used to refer to the Occupy folks as brats but that is now too kind a designation. They are clearly thugs. Noting that it is “almost impossible to keep up with the downward spiral” of Occupy, John Hinderaker of Powerline has compiled a stunning list of some developments at Occupy within a 24-hour period.

Some highlights from the list: an outbreak of tuberculosis at the Atlanta Occupy, refusal to clean up feces at the Sir Christopher Wren-designed St. Paul’s in London, a violent assault of a citizen journalist in San Diego, a man fatally shot near an Occupy site in Vermont, and a man arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail.

It may be too late, but it is time for the politicians who expressed sympathy with the movement to stand up and ask them to go home (are you listening, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi?). The movement is dirty, dangerous, and destructive.

Meanwhile, here are Surber’s comments on the new anthem:

How odd that liberals who reject as too militaristic to our national anthem because it praises American fortitude in the Battle of Fort McHenry in 1812 would choose such ugly imagery to forward their own cornucopia of complaints.
