PRESS CALL ADVISORY

IWF FILES AMICUS BRIEF ON THE BASIS OF WOMEN’S HEALTH AND EMPLOYMENT FREEDOM IN SUPPORT OF HOBBY LOBBY/CONESTOGA

(Washington, D.C.) – On Thursday, January 30, at 10:30 a.m., the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) will host a press call previewing its Amicus Curiae brief, which the IWF filed in support of Hobby Lobby, Inc., and Conestoga Wood’s challenges to the ObamaCare contraception mandate.

In contrast to the 56 other briefs filed on the side of Hobby Lobby, Inc., and Conestoga Wood, the main interest of the IWF’s brief is not religious liberty, but the mandate’s consequences for women’s health and employment freedom.

On the call, speakers will discuss the IWF's interest in the cases and key arguments of the brief: The Anti-Injunction Act is not jurisdictional and poses no bar to resolution of the critical constitutional questions at issue, the mandate works contrary to women’s interests, the unintended consequences the mandate presents for women and for public health, and how it restricts women’s flexibility to customize their compensation and benefits.

Participants will take questions at the end of the call.
