IWF APPLAUDS CONGRESS'S MOVE TO RELIEVE SCHOOLS OF BROKEN LUNCH PROGRAM
Time to Give Local Authorities More Control Over How Kids Are Fed in Schools
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Republicans in the House are proposing a bill that would roll back school lunch rules, which were written by the Agriculture Department and championed by Michelle Obama, and allow schools to opt out of the programs. Independent Women's Forum Culture of Alarmism project director Julie Gunlock released the following statement:
"The Independent Women's Forum is in favor of any policy proposal giving local authorities more control over how kids are fed in schools. The new school lunch rules passed by Congress and pushed by our First Lady have made it increasingly difficult for local school officials to provide good and appetizing food to kids. We're glad Congress is taking steps to relieve schools from having to participate in the broken school lunch program and hope schools look to adopt more free market solutions to improve their lunch programs."
