When it comes to an inspirational work ethic, don’t look to Washington, DC. A new Rasmussen poll finds that most Americans think the president and members of Congress are slackers:

Note to President Obama and Congress: Don’t call voters for a job reference. Voters are evenly divided when asked if the president works harder than they do, but they are overwhelmingly convinced that Congress doesn’t.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 43% of Likely U.S. Voters think President Obama works harder than they do, but just as many (42%) disagree.

These findings support previous polling results showing that a majority of Americans (51%) believe government employees work less, earn more, and have better job security than private sector workers.

Our government certainly has constitutionally defined work it’s supposed to do. Poll findings such as these suggest that when government grows so large that it’s micromanaging the day-to-day affairs of our lives, most Americans lose confidence in those we elect to represent us.
