INDEPENDENT WOMEN'S FORUM STATEMENT ON CARLY FIORINA'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN
With Carly, it's about the issues, not the gender
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Carly Fiorina announced this morning on ABC's Good Morning America and on social media that she will run for president in 2016, becoming the first woman Republican candidate to officially declare herself in the race for the White House. Independent Women’s Forum, the leading women’s group on the right, released the following statement in response to Ms. Fiorina's notice:
Sabrina Schaeffer, IWF executive director, said:
“Former Hewlett-Packard CEO and 2016 presidential aspirant Carly Fiorina brings business experience, a commitment to individual liberty and free market policies, and a confidence in all Americans that is a stark contrast to Hillary Clinton's identity politics. It’s certainly exciting to see a woman with the right policies working to reach the White House, yet her success will be the result of her own accomplishments not her gender.
"At IWF our tagline is all issues are women's issues, and that’s something Ms. Fiorina understands and appreciates. With Fiorina in the race, I hope we can get past gender politics and look at policies which actually help women and their families both at home and in the workplace so that we can ensure a stronger economy and more plentiful job opportunities for all.
“We’re excited to see more people enter the race each day, encouraging a greater commitment to the diversity of ideas and perspectives. Ms. Florina will certainly elevate the campaign season."
